Chrysler Repair: Chrysler Neon 97, clutch cable and fork, baku azerbaijan, chrysler neon

Question
Hi, Expert

I have Chrysler Neon 97, SOHC 2.0 engine.

Question relates to how Clutch Cable connects to Clutch Fork.
If I have understood correctly Neon has two type of connection between cable and fork:
FIRST TYPE is when cable has the small loop at the end of it which is put on small pin between fork's "horns"
SECOND ONE is when cable has round metal washer on its end which put on fork's horns themselves from other side of fork (cable itself goes between horns).

The question: is fork's shape different depending of connection types?

Why I am asking.
I got my first-type cable torn off. Then I got broken that small pin between fork's horns, maybe because I used Mercedes cable instead of native one.
I bought the neon second-type cable and my technician tells me that fork should be bought as well, because the shape of horns should be another in order reliably hold the cable washer.
I am from Baku (Azerbaijan), American cars are not common here and I can't trust technician completely especially because I didn't find in internet and manual any word about possible different fork shapes.

thanks in advance,
Anar

Answer
Hi Anar,
I looked at my '97 Neon service manual and find that you are correct about there being two different clutch release mechanisms, in fact the entire clutch assembly was of two types. It depends upon whether the car was first built in Toluca, Mexico or in Belvidere, USA. The 11th-position of the Vehicle Identification Number will tell you which:
D is for Belvidere, T is for Toluca. It is too early here to call a dealer for info on the fork differences, if any, but I suspect they are different. I will call them and inquire. so write back later for the results of my inquiry. When you are ordering clutch parts you would want to know if you have the D or T clutch in the car.
