Chrysler Repair: Bad BCM in 03 T&C, power locks, body control module

Question
I have a 03 Town and Country which we took to a reputable service center for service (in Germany)for no reverse lights (at all). After diagnostics they decided that the body control module is bad. Here is my question I can get a BCM from a junk yard in Virginia for $165 vise the $800 the dealer wants to charge but it is out of a Caravan.  It has all the same features as mine (no lift gate, no security, and has power locks). Would I need to re-program this module to work in my van?
Thanks,

Answer
Hi Dan,
That sounds like a good match if it is from the same model year, though I don't have a wiring diagram for such a recent van (my latest manual if from '98).
But I do question whether the BCM is the problem. If the circuit was in a '98 I would say that doesn't make sense because the BCM was not involved at all: depending upon which trans you have there would be a range sensor switch that senses when you have selected reverse. Maybe things changed by '03 but I would check to see if that is not the case, because the BCM was not wired into that switch, only the PCM. If the shop can show you a wiring diagram for '03 showing a BCM involvement, then that is something else. But even then, I would wonder if transmission reverse switch arrangement weren't the problem rather than the BCM. If you write back tell me which transmission type you have and what you learned.
