Chrysler Repair: Auxiliary Power Outlet, orange plug, dash board

Question
QUESTION: Today my rear power outlet just stopped working...no fuses are blown under the hood, yet the other two outlets in the front dash board work just fine...how would I go about finding out what's wrong and how can I fix it myself?

ANSWER: Hi Jeff,
You didn't mention the year or model of vehicle so I looked in the '98 van manual to see what it shows. There it appears that the front and rear outlets are powered in parallel by the same fuse (#8) in the power center under the hood. In that case if the front one works, then the fuse is OK. The power is split at a splice that is under the dash. The power is on a red wire that comes from pin 10 of the orange plug at the power center. It goes thru the fire wall to a splice to the right of the steering column where it splits to the two power outlets.  You could also check that the black ground wire at the outlet is in fact grounded. Its ground point is on the left rear of the van, underneath the tail lights.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have a different vehicle.

QUESTION: Yeah, sorry, I submitted another question moments' later with the year...I have a 2006 touring town and country.

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Jeff,
My problem unfortunately is that I don't own manuals for vehicles so recent as yours (cost too much at this point in time). But if you would ask Louis Vitalano, one of the other experts who works at a dealership and has access to more recent wiring diagrams, I believe he can direct you to the specific fuse for the rear outlet. A second fuse for that circuit must be involved.
