Chrysler Repair: 92 Chrysler (New Yorker): headlights dont work, chrysler new yorker, eye lids

Question
if you hit the hi beam the eye lids will open, as long as you hold the hi beam on. you let go. the doors close and the lights go out.  thanks grs

Hi Gerold,
Since the optical horn (headlamp flasher) works, but you can't get headlamps to work in the normal fashion I would first check the headlamp switch itself in the dash. Check to see whether you get 12v on the light green wire terminal (labelled "H") when you turn on the headlamp switch to the headlamp "on" position. I believe that you may have a defective headlamp switch, and that would explain your problem. The doors and the power to the system is OK as evidenced by the flasher circuit, so it has to be the separate circuit thru the headlamp switch that is not getting power the headlamp dimmer switch nor the door relay switch.
