Chrysler Repair: 2000 Cirrus: trans faults 715, 731-4, input sensor, torque converter

Question
Hi, my car has a transmission problem and is stuck in 2nd gear. The
codes set are p0715,input speed sensor, po731,732,733,734 incorrect gear
ratio,p1790 fault after shift. Is there a common sensor fault or is the
transmission controller the likely suspect. Thanks, Tony.

Answer
Hi Tony,
Fortunately the input sensor signal, if missing, will cause the other incorrect gear ratio faults to be present. The TCM is unlikely the cause, so I would be inclined to buy and replace the input speed sensor and see if that corrects things for you. It is located on the side of the transmission, about mid-level near the front where the torque converter is positioned. It has a two-wire plug with a locking tab that you gently lift to release it.
It screws out and then torque the new one in to 20 foot-pounds, about the same as a spark plug.
I hope this is the answer, as usually a ratio fault code absent a speed sensor code would mean a slipping clutch...very expensive.
