Chrysler Repair: no/flakey speedometer: LH car, shaft speed, speed sensors

Question
I have a 97 concorde w/ a po500 code. I have replaced the   t.c.m, p.c.m, and both speed sensors. the speedometer only works when making left hand turns. what else should I be looking at?

Answer
Hi Kevin,
I would suspect that one of the two wires from the output shaft speed sensor is intermittent due to a broken wire, loose splice, or a bad disconnect contact. The light green/white wire goes thru a multipin disconnect near the top of the transmission (pin 14) and from there to pin 14 of the tcm plug, while the dark blue/black goes to a splice nearby and then on to pin 9 of the same disconnect and then to pin 13 of the tcm plug. So I would measure the continuity (using a continuity testor or ohmmeter) of the two wires between that sensor and the tcm plug pins and try shaking the harnesses around while doing it to see if you can get a handle on where the broken connection is located. Did you torque the sensor in to about 20 foot-pounds? The 0500 code is just reporting the obvious: the speed sensor signal is not getting to the tcm. Turning left either flexes a loose connection, or conceivably the gear inside the trans that drive output sensor is faulty.
