Chrysler Repair: tran codes, output speed, foot pounds

recently my check engine light came on now my car won't shift gears, power steering seems to have went out, and speedometor stoped working. I just went to autozone and they gave me the codes po 500,700,& 731. Just wondering what you could tell me.. thanks

Hi Lindsey,
I just noticed your question in the "pool" and believe that your problem may be due to a faulty output speed sensor on your automatic transmission. All the affect you describe would be consistent with that. It is located on the side of trans, near the very end of it. It simply unscrews and is replaced, after first removing the electrical connector (gently lift tab). The new one should be torqued in to 20 foot-pounds, the same as for a spark plug.
