Chrysler Repair: 1993 chrysler labaron transmission code 56, chrysler labaron, turbine speed

Question
QUESTION: Roland,
I have a 93 lebaron that downshifts hard and stays in l;ow gear. I had a diagnostic run on it and got a fualt code of 56. I saw one of your previous responses to a simular issue. You said you could decipher these codes. Can you tell me what this one means? I think it might be the transmission speed sensor(input) side. Canyou tell me if this sounds right?

Thank you,
Sean

ANSWER: Hi Sean,
Yes the problem is with the input (turbine)speed sensor. Check the wiring at pins 13 and 52 of the trans controller, which connect to the turbine sensor. The sensor itself could be the problem if the wires check out, or its connector. So start with the wires and a new sensor. If that doesn't do it then the trans controller itself is the next suspect.
Good luck. It was good you got the readout!

QUESTION: Roland,
Where is the input sensor located? I found the output side but couldn't find the input.

Answer
Hi Sean,
It is at the same height on the side of the transmission as the output sensor, but rather it is located near the torque converter, on the opposite side of the vertical shift rod. Looks very similar, has wire colors black/red and dark blue/black.
