Chrysler Repair: 1999 Chrysler Concord:Body computer?, drb iii, chrysler concord

Question
QUESTION: Hello Roland,
Were exactly is the body control module located on this car? I am having a bit of trouble locating it. Thank you, Joe David Romo

ANSWER: Hi Joe,
It is located on the back side of the fuse box under the dash on the driver side. To remove it you remove the unit and then separate the two parts, held together by four screws.
You take the end cap off the dash, then two screws that hold the under dash panel at the very outside end, then pull panel rearward releasing the rest of the clips. Disconnect the deck lid release wiring and then the entire panel will come out. Then remove accessible harness plugs, then remove three screws that hold the unit in place, pulling straight down, then remove balance of connectors.

QUESTION: Does the body control module have to be reprogrammed to the cars computer or unit? Thanks again, Joe david Romo

Answer
Hi Joe,
Yes, I believe that for at least the vehicle theft security system that there is a programming interface between the computer and body module. So replacing one or the other will prompt that reprogramming need for proper recognition. There are some other options that need to be reset if you change the body module. But if a dealer shop is honest, they should be able to verify my opinion. It requires the DRB III which is likely not available to most small shops. But you could check into that as well.
