Chrysler Repair: theft alarm:lights flashing...wont stop, electronic circuit board, chrysler voyager

i have a 2000 Chrysler voyager and the lights wont quit flashing when the car is on or off and doesn't stop until the lights are turned on and when i turn them off they start flashing again i cant figure it out!

Hi Dave,
That flashing is probably part of the vehicle theft security system which should not be continuing as you describe it. I would try a couple of things. Try using the door key to lock then unlock the passenger side door which should disarm the system, as would doing the same thing on the driver door side. If neither of those will stop it then I would remove fuse 28 from the fuse box under the dash on the driver side, doing that for at least 15 minutes, then reinsert and see if that solves it. It unfortunately is a system that centers in the body computer which is attached to the back side of the fuse box. If you remove the panel that is under the steering column and conceals the fuse box you can then get at the fuse box/body control module and remove its plugs on the back side. I would get a spray can of electronic circuit board cleaner and try spraying the plugs and sockets of the body control module which would evaporate any water that may have dripped down on it from a leak around the windshield.
The other thing to try would be to turn the ignition key: "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in five seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch to see if a new number appears in the odometer reading on the dash in place of the mileage reading. That would be a fault code that would give us a clue as to the cause of this. Let me know if you get a code. If not, go to an Autozone parts store for a free code readout via a plug under the dash, or go to an independent garage where the code readout will be done for $40 or less. Find out any fault code numbers, what they mean, what they suggest doing, and how much. Then write me back with the numbers and we can compare that to the shop manual I have.
