Chrysler Repair: need to replace the camshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, cam shaft

Question
I need to locate and replace the camshaft sensor on my 1997 Plymouth Breeze.  Can you point me in the right direction?

Answer
Hi Sara,
The 2.5L V-6 has the camshaft sensor inside the distributor and my impression is that it is not sold as a separate part. This makes the cost much higher to replace that sensor. If you are sure it is bad, then I would shop around to see who offers the lowest price for the distributor. Let me know if this is your engine and I can give you specifics on replacing the distributor.
The four cylinders engines have individual sensors located at the rear of the engine at the level of the cam shaft, which would be at the level of the valve cover. So let me know which of those engines you have and I can give you specifics.
Is the diagnosis of the camsensor based on a fault code readout, and have the wires from the sensor to the computer been checked to be sure that they are not the cause of the problem?
