Chrysler Repair: Passenger Door Lock, lock cylinder, powdered graphite

Question
My key will not lock or unlock the passenger door to my 1997 Sebring JXI 177k.

Answer
Hi Robin,
If you have a less-used key, try that as a test to see if the door lock or the door key (being worn out perhaps) is the problem. If it is the lock, then you will need to remove the inner door panel to remove the lock cylinder and replace it. Just in case that it might be simply binding up between the cylinder and the housing into which it fits, try using some dry (powdered) graphite grease that comes in a plastic tube with a tip which you can dispense the powder into the crack/seam between the lock cylinder and the housing into which it fits. Then try the key again. Write back if you need instruction on removing the door panel and lock cylinder for repair at a locksmith or replacement.
