Chrysler Repair: 2000 JXI Convertible: no starter action, air intake hose, starter solenoid

Question
Sir, tried to start my car and the ignition felt crunchy turning the key, then, all lights, bells working, and nothing. No start, so I pulled the key switch and had it checked, nothing wrong...no noises, no poser to the starter...switch?

Answer
Hi Alan,
If I understand you correctly, all the dash lights work, and all the warning bells work, and yet your starter motor is not responding to the ignition key when you put it into the starter position.
Were that the case, I would look at a couple of things: Under the hood there is a rectangular box with a lid, located between two electical computer boxes with plugs and underneath the air intake hose, and that is the power distribution center inside of which are fuses and relays. At the rear of the box, under a slightly lower area there are four relays. The front left relay is the starter motor relay. That relay should click when a helper tries the starter position of the ignition switch. Do you hear that click? If not, try moving the gear shift lever slightly off-center in either the park or neutral position, and try it again. If you still don't get the click then check fuse 8 in that box. If that is ok then you will need a voltmeter or 12v glow light to check for voltage at points which I can tell you about. So write back and tell me again where things stand and what type of tester you have to check for voltage.
If you do hear the relay click, then either the contacts inside the relay are poorly connecting or the wire connecting the relay to the starter motor solenoid is open, of the starter solenoid is bad...because if the starter relay clicks then you ought to hear a loud click from the starter solenoid and the starter should activate.
So I need to know what is going on.
