Chrysler Repair: 2002 Dodge Caravan CMTC MPG readout, dodge grand caravan, dodge caravan

Question
Kevin, I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan EX CMTC with Homelink. The Overhead Compass Mileage Trip Computer will not display the average or instantaneous MPG(the readout shows 0.0 MPG). All of the  other functions work including the DTE (Due To Empty) so I know it is sensing the fuel rate. Is it missing the signal from the speed sensor?  The systems that use speed sensors like Auto Door Locks, ABS and Traction Systems are working.  Would a reprogram  or replacement of the BCM fix this? Also could I upgrade the CMTC to an EVIC console without changing the BCM?

Answer
reset the over head by clearing the settings in the over head with a reset  if that does not work then more then likely the over head is bad. All the info u see on the over head is a bussed network info nothing hard wired. I doubt u can upgrade an evic due to the functions not programed in the BCM and so on.
