Chrysler Repair: 2002 Chrysler T&C: Heater acting up, automatic temperature control, calibration tests

Question
The heater all of a sudden will not turn off with the power switch. The control panel does it's own thing (things change by themselves)---heat goes up, fan speed changes & position knob changes. The fan constently blows--if it is turned down to the low setting---it will creep up to a higher setting on it's own. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Answer
Hi Ann,
The 2002 model year is outside my range of expertise that I claim; I can't afford to buy the newer model manuals. I suspect though that you may have a automatic temperature control type of unit (does it have a digital readout?). There are a couple of possiblities:
If it doesn't have a digital readout, then there are a couple of calibration tests that might correct the function. If you have the digital readout, then there is a self diagnostic capability that will give an error code that can be pursued.
So let me know which you have and I can send you the procedures, based upon earlier manuals. Sorry to not be specific as I don't have the wiring diagrams and no '02 manual to go by. But let's give it a try nonetheless.
