Chrysler Repair: Transmission fluid level, little holes, dip stick

Question
We have a 3.8 liter Chrysler T.& C. purchased used.  We have no owners manual.
Question: How much transmission fluid should be added to bring the level to the top hole in the dip stick; when the hot level idling is now at the bottom hole.  Is it a pint, or a quart between the little holes on the dip stick?  Thanks

Answer
Hi Jim,
I have checked my shop manuals and the owners manual for my Chrysler and find no specific statement as to the amount. Because the fill is accomplished thru the dipstick hole where it settles quickly, I believe that they way to fill it is to add say 4 ounces at a time then check the level and you should pretty quickly be able to bring it to the upper hole without overfilling it (which is also to be avoided).
So just try that approach, a little at a time and check.
It is most important to not use the Dexron type fluid but rather ATF +4.
