Chrysler Repair: Alternator on Plymouth voyager, plymouth grand voyager, alternator test

Question
I have a similar question that someone else had.  You previously mentioned that alternators don't go bad on Chryslers, but I beg to differ.  I too have a 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager Se 3.3L, and for a while (months), I would be driving and all of a sudden all the gauges on the dash would go to 0.  Sometimes it would stay like that, then sometimes it would come back on.  The other day, my battery light came on.  As I'm driving I can tell I was slowly losing overall power.  The dashboard lights and radio began to go dim.  Then, they went off completely and then the van began to sputter.  I parked and tried the "alternator" test.  While the van was running, I removed the negative lead from the (brand new) battery and sure enough it completely died.  I waited about 15 mins, then it barely restarted.  I tried to keep driving home since I was only a few blocks away(no lights inside, or out)and just as I arrived, before I could park, it cut off completely.  Have not been able to restart it since. If not the alternator, then what is the possible problem?

Answer
PCM   wire    batt feed to the alt    but  if  u think its the alt  by all means  replace it   as for the gauges  I would say  u have a printed circuit board issue. Plus a bad batt that will not hold a charge or allow currant to flow through it will also kill the car when the batt cable is unplugged.
