Chrysler Repair: 87 New Yorker 2.5, TPS & Speedo, side kick panel, inner fender

Question
When purchased had speedom repaired, over $200. Failed again intermittantly and I resolved problem by reseating plug at transmission.  Then it was "powers Loss Light" and replaced TPS. Still not resolved.  I found that if I wiggled the plug at the transmission, the light went out for a while.  Still get code 24 when the light is on.

Answer
Hi Bernie,
You need to disconnect the battery for a minute to erase present and past fault codes and then see what the new code(s) are.
It sounds to me like you have poor connection between the distance sensor and the controller and the TPS and the controller. So look over the harness near by carefully to make sure there is no damage to the insulation. I can give you the pin assignment at the controller so you can check the wiring straight thru, but you have to tell me if you have a single controllter with a 60-pin and a 12-pin plug or a split controller with part of it in the cabin on the passenger side kick panel and part on the left inner fender. There was a mid-year changeover in '87. Also, were you aware that the distance sensor gear might be damaged which too would act like an intermittent? If a repair of the right half-axle is done by pulling it out of the transaxle without first having removed the sensor then its gear will be damaged.
