Chrysler Repair: 1999 LHS: overhead map light out, radiator fan doesnt work, radiator fan, fuse box

Question
Thanks for any help. My overhead lights in the info center do not work, how do I get at them? no moonroof. Also my electric fan does not work, can it be repaired? I over heat in warm weather.

Answer
Hi George,
There are two consoles: one with and one without a "universal transmitter". If you have the former you merely disconnect the - post from the battery for electrical short avoidance, then grasp both outer sides of the console and pull down to release it from clips. On the latter, there is a screw on the forward edge that you remove, then pull down on the forward edge to release it from the clips. In either case you can then remove the burned out lamp(s). The bulb is either a 192 for the base center, or 4437661 for the information center.
On the fan, I assume you mean the radiator fan, check the following fuses: E and B in the power distribution center which is the box under the hood near the battery, and also check fuse 21 in the fuse box under the dash on the driver side. If those are all good (but look at their wire carefully for a hidden crack, or test electrically with a meter) then let me know and we can troubleshoot further.
