Chrysler Repair: 95 New Yorker Factory Alarm disarm problem, side kick panel, chrysler new yorker

Question
I have a 1995 Chrysler New Yorker with a factory alarm problem. I can arm it fine from both doors... but it only dis-arms from the passenger door. The drivers door unlocks fine, but as soon as you open the door it sound off. I must go to pass. side to dis-arm it. I understand there is an electrical connection going from the door lock mech. What suggestions do you have to fix this? Can I replace the lock or is there a way to completely disable the alarm as it is really not needed anyway?

Answer
Hi Chris,
It is strange that it won't disarm from the driver door if it does arm reliably. The same action in the switch is required for both.
How about trying to unlock the door twice as one trick?
The lock switch on the inside of the handle can be replaced but it requires removing the door's interior trim panel which is an 18-step procedure as shown in the manual. It would be easier to xerox copy and mail to you as I don't have a scanner. You could try spraying some electronic cleaner on the switch once you were inside to make it more reliably actuate.
It has to be the switch because the wires from both doors go to the same pin at the body computer which is located on the passenger side kick panel. I suppose it could be possible to cut the wire at pin 3 of the black plug (light green/orange wire) but then you would run the risk of not having a convenient way to disarm the system (using the key in the passenger door) should it become armed inadvertantly.
The theft system is integrated with the body computer so there is no way to separately disconnect it. About the only other work around is to only secure the vehicle's doors by means of the mechanical push buttons, not the door key. That way the system is not armed.
Those would be the choices that I can suggest.
