Chrysler Repair: 1998 Sebring, Fix or Sell?, poor college kid, missing teeth

Question
My 1998 Sebring Convertible is my pride and joy but recently its been having some issues. The ABS sensor light came on and while I was getting that checked out (to which they said to just unplug the sensors and it’d be fine???) the repair guys told me I need to change the water pump and timing belt as soon as possible because these cars will apparently just suddenly commit suicide without any warning after 90K? (mine has 154K)  The price tag quoted on these emergency repairs is a bit out of my poor college kid budget but I’d be willing to fork it out if it would last me a few more years. Most people I’ve talked to have recommended selling it before it gets worse. Can you give me any kind of advice about this at all? Thanks.

Answer
well  for the abs part  i cant say much  u have not told me what the prob they found was  but just to unplug something.
As for the other stuff  u can inspect the timing belt and u can make the call if u want it done or have a car payment.

TIMING BELT INSPECTION
Remove the upper left timing belt cover Timing Belt Covers
Inspect both sides of the timing belt drive & back. Replace belt if any of the following conditions exist.
Hardening of back rubber back side is glossy without resilience and leaves no indent when pressed with fingernail.
Cracks on rubber back.
Cracks or peeling of canvas.
Cracks on rib root.
Cracks on belt sides.
Missing teeth.
Abnormal wear of belt sides. The sides are normal if they are sharp as if cut by a knife Timing Belt Inspection
If none of the above conditions are seen on the belt, the belt cover can be reinstalled.
