Chrysler Repair: 98 T&C intermittent starting problems, printed circuit board, two occasions

Question
QUESTION: On two occasions about a week apart the minivan wouldn't start after been driven about 5 miles an hour previously.  When trying to start it, it would turn over and run for about 2-3 seconds then stall.  After approx. 3 times of this it would not even turn over (similar to a dead battery, but the battery is fine).  On both occasions upon returning to the vehicle a couple of hours later it started and ran normally.  We took it in to the shop after the first time this happened and they didn't have any ideas - fuses, battery, starter all okay.  No check engine lights have come on.  Any ideas?

ANSWER: did the cluster work after the 3rd time? Next time it does it  smack on the top of the dash to see if u start up again then let me know.

QUESTION: Hi Kevin,

It finally happened again, and no the cluster didn't work after the 3rd time and it did start up after banging on the dash.  Unfortunately, I live nowhere near Atlanta (Seattle-area).  Do you know what it might be and/or know of any good mechanics in this area?  Our local shop insists that we start with the spark plugs.  Thanks again, Cathy

Answer
u need a printed circuit board behind the cluster.  If the shop wants to have backup on what I am saying  they will have 1 of 3 if not all codes in 1 or more computers. 1 loss of commutations with BCM,TCM and or PCM. The plugs are only a secondary issue they will not cause a no start unless they are soaked and bad.  It will not be an occasional no start with plugs. PS u will need to have a dealer program the cluster once installed   so I would take it to a dealer and have them do it  the place u have it does not know what they are doing when it comes to this issue. They want to sell u plugs that are not champions ne way and it will cause more issue after that  plus they make money off doing the plugs.
