Chrysler Repair: radio wiring: 1990 lebaron conv, illumination level, pink wire

Question
hi roland, i just replaced my factory radio beacause i was told it had died.  however, the new system is not getting any power whatsoever.  i can't figure out why, or where the power source comes from.  can you maybe help me out?  thanks

Answer
Hi Jim,
The power wires are:
red/black on pin 2 of the gray plug which is supplied from the ignition switch thru fuse #13
orange/white on pin 3 of the gray plug which is variable voltage supply for the illumination of the dial
pink wire on pin 1 of the gray plug is a 12V supply that is always present and its purpose is to maintain the preset positions in the memory of the radio
The pink/yellow on pin 4 of the gray plug is 12V that comes "on" when the parklamps are illuminated and it is responsible for switching the illumination level over to variable control position.
So see if you can find those wires and decide which ones you need for the new radio.
There is no ground wire on either of the available 6-pin plugs; rather there is a black wire that was attached to a threaded pin on the rear of the body of the original radio.
