Chrysler Repair: 97 Chrysler Sebring: continuous flasher clicking, left turn signal, continuity tests

Question
QUESTION: My wife has a 97 sebring coupe and I hear a constant clicking noise coming from the flasher, I installed a new flasher from the dealer and checked all the fuses (all are good), but the still get the clicking until I unplug the flasher. It is driving her crazy, what can I do to stop the clicking (besides blast the radio)?

ANSWER: Hi Eric,
I am confused about a continuous clicking, but apparently no lights going on and off? Do the turn signals work properly at all four corners? Does the hazard flasher system work properly? I have the circuit diagrams for the '95 coupe which probably apply to the '97.
Both systems are energized by/thru the hazard flasher system switch so I suspect that that switch may be in the "on" position even though the lights at all four corners of the car don't come on flashing. So check the position of that switch, and also try turning the hazards on and off a few times to see if that might not kill the noise. Get back to me with the results of your tests and we can go from there.

QUESTION: Thanks Roland, I unplugged the hazard switch and the clicking stopped but I have no turn signals, so I plugged it back and the clicking starts over now the left turn signal is blinking with the switch in the off position. I assume that I my have a short some where in the line between the two switches. Are there any more test I can try in order to narrow the problem down

Answer
Here are the continuity tests for the system:
With hazards off:
right turn a-1 and b-6
left turn  a-1 and b-7
turn signal positions with hazard on:
whether in right, left of off position of the turn signal you should have continuity between a-1 and b-6, a-2 and a-5,
a-1 and b-7, and b-6 and b-7.
Presumably with the hazard off and the turn signal off there should be no continuity on any of those possibilities.
"a" refers to the 5 pins of the flasher socket
"b" refers to the 7 pins of the 7 way connector at the switch.
Check to see if any of those show continuity when they shouldn't. I would think it is one of the switches rather than the wiring so check switches carefully.
