Chrysler Repair: Intermittently dies on strart, then wont do anything, vtss, theft security

Question
Car will start, then shut down (3 times) then nothing. Dealer has replaced both large modules. My van is a 98 town and country. No codes availabe. It may start the next day.
The problem occurs very seldom. I have lost confidence in
the vehice and only drive in locally. The problem is about 3 month old and has been towed to the dealer about 5 times.

Answer
Hi Micheal,
This is a typical problem and is the symptom of an issue with the vehicle theft security system. Unfortunately the VTSS is hard-wired into the engine controller and body controller and requires a diagnostic readout box to troubleshoot it, at a dealer. The best thing I can suggest is that you avoid arming the system. That means don't use a door key to lock a door, don't use a power door lock switch to lock the doors when you leave the vehicle, and don't use a remote key fob to lock the doors. Simply lock the van manually, using the interior hand operated lock buttons as you exit the vehicle.
Good luck on trying that approach to work around the problem.
