Chrysler Repair: 1994 Chrysler LeBaron, chrysler lebaron, outlet hoses

Question
I need some help before I drive this car into a hole and make it go away!  I am having coolant temp problems.  If I am driving in the city or just sitting at an idle the water temp gets to a normal operating temp, but if i drive down the highway it will barely get off the cold mark and I obviously wont have any heat.  I have flushed the engine putting a 50/50mix in, replaced the radiator cap and made sure the thermostat was working.  Can you give me some kinda of an idea what my problem might be?  Thanks for your help, John

Answer
Hi John,
Did you check the temp that the thermostat opens by watching it while it sits in a pot of heating water along with a thermometer? May it is opening at too low a temp. You could get a 195F thermostat if that is the case.
Is the cooling fan running all the time? Let me know and we can deal with that.
I can't think of anything else unless your gauge is faulty, and the heater core is partially blocked. The inlet and outlet hoses should be similarly hot.
Maybe your temp door on the heater/AC unit under the dash isn't attached to its operating cable so your door isn't adjusted to the correct position.
Those are my best ideas.
