Chrysler Repair: heater control valve vacuum line: 87-94, heater control valve, power brake booster

Question
Hello,

I have an 87 LeBaron 2.2 turbo automatic, the vac line to the heater control valve is no longer attached to anything and I can't seem to find where it is supposed to connect. The heater control valve on the heater hoses is not shown on the under-hood vac diagram and I can't find any info about it in my Haynes manual. I have heat so it must fail open. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Joe,
If you will take a look at the power brake booster canister and its vacuum supply line you should find a T-with an open nipple near where the line attaches to the 'can'. I believe it is shown on the underhood diagram, shown as "to heater A/C control". Many of the heater units in this time frame use this same arrangement. I don't believe that the vac controls the blend door (which determines the relative amounts of hot and cold air) that sets your air temp. Rather that is done mechanically by a cable. The vac line powers the air distribution doors after it is mixed.
