Chrysler Repair: 96 Chrsyler ATC / Air conditioning., east springfield pa, hanes manuel

Question
QUESTION: AC quit on a hot summer day while running. Clutch in Ac not engaged. Jumpered with clip leads to battery AIr worked fine. Looking ofr wiring diagram for Air Cond. Not in the Hanes manuel. Charged with one can of 134A stil don't chill as clutch don't engage. Again works fine if clutch energized of from the battery.(draws 3 amps OK) ALl fuses fine. Can I put five volts on the sense line of the Low Charge sensor and see if the AC will then turn on the clutch. Is there a realy and where is it?

Can you send me the schematic

ANSWER: Hi Robert,
You didn't happen to mention which Chrysler it is, but I could assume it is an LH body (New Yorker, Concorde). The relay for clutch is #3 at the rear of the power distribution center under the hood. The pressure transducer should already have 5V on it from the PCM on its violet/white wire, and that would be sent to the PCM on the dark blue wire if it were closed. The transducer is on the right lower radiator closure panel. I don't have a document scanner but I can send you the pages by postal mail. Just verify that it is the LH car, and use the "thank and rate" tab to give me a postal mailing address.

QUESTION: Yes it is a LHS. Apparently the sensor is a straight spst switch to sense low fluid. My Address for mail is

Answer
Hi Robert,
OK, I'll copy and send the AC-relevant pages from a '94 Chrysler shop manual for the LH cars. Yes, check the relay as that may explain the problem. I do take questions everyday, but I like to do it one at a time and when I know I can answer rapidly, rather than to have a half-dozen questions come it during a short period of time and not be available to give the proper attention to them. I'm always available at 8 pm EDT as that is when the site restarts its day and I am set up to receive one question. Then as time permits I answer that one and make myself available for the next one. It may look like I am maxed out for the day, but that is generally not the case.
