Question
hi,i have a question about my ac on an '01 300m. the display comes on but nothing blows  out at all. i have no idea what it is or what it would cost. can you help me please?

Answer
Hi Richard,
The blower motor is not working or not getting power. I don't have as recent a manual as '01, but my '98 manual for the LHS says fuse #23, in the fuse box under the dash, is for that blower motor. So check that.
If it is OK, then there is a component that controls the fan power level for the different blower speeds, and that could be blown. If you have the conventional control system it is called the blower motor resistor block, if you have the control system with digital temp readout (ATC, automatic temperature control) then it is called the blower power module. In either case it is located on the lower right hand side of the AC/heater housing under the dash. You may need to remove the bolster on the under edge of the right side dash to get a view of it. The blower motor is at the bottom of the rigtht end of the unit. It has 2 wires that in fact plug in to the module/block I described above. You will find a multiwire plug at the module/block and once you disconnect that you can remove a couple screws on either end of the socket and drop the module/block out of the internal duct into which it is inserted. A replacement should be available from a dealer or parts store.
The resistor block is around $25, and the module would be closer to $75, but those are guesses. Before buying either, as appropriate, I would suggest testing the blower motor to be sure it is OK. Just jump 12V to its wires to make sure it rotates.
