Chrysler Repair: alternator, windshield wipers, ac fans

QUESTION: I am trying to change out my alternator.  I have the top bolt out and am having a very difficult - virtually impossible time getting to the second, lower bolt.  Any suggestions?  Is there any chance this in a pin instead of a bolt?

ANSWER: I doubt its an alternator  they don't go bad on Chrysler's   what year,make and engine size do u have? Whats the prob?

QUESTION: It's a 98 Sebring 6 cylinder convertable.  Earlier this week as I was drinking,my radio, windshield wipers, windows ect shut down, along with the gauges on my dashboard.  Fortunately I wasn't far from an auto parts store.  They checked my batteries and said it was bad.  I put the new battery in and all was fine.  The next night the same thing happened again, including having not lights by the time I got home.  Doesn't it make sense if the alternator is bad it is draining the power from my battery?  What else could it be?  And, just for curiousity, why would chrysler alternaters be any different then any other brand?

Well  first of all did your car ever shut off  or was it just some lights and such?  If it was only lights its not an alternator because your whole car is runs off the alternator when it running it self. The computers sill require power to run and fire the plugs.injectors, sensors and so on. If the battery and alternator was bad the whole car would die  not just some lights.Why do u ask Chrysler's dont have issues with alternators  i will tell u why. Chrysler's pcms pulse the coil so they are not 100 full field all the time like most other manufactures do. So the chrysler will say give it 30% power to the alternator when the engine load it not required and when u have everything running at once  lights and ac ,fans,  and so on  u may get 90% full power. I only see bad ones when some one hooks up stuff that makes it go full field for long amounts of time  like big radio amps and such or they installed something wrong. So back to your issue Tell me what and when u see not working  and what if u shut the car off and turn it back on does the stuff work again? I live in the Atlanta area and would be glad to look at it for u.
