Chrysler Repair: 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager rear A/C not working, chrysler grand voyager, grand voyager

Question
I have a 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager with rear A/C. My problem is that the rear A/C no longer blows any air at all. I checked all fuses under the dash as well as under the hood by the battery. Could the control switch on the dash be bad? Thanks

Answer
Hi John,
I would begin by looking again at fuse 11 under the dash and verifying that when the ignition switch is in the run position that you have 12V on both sides of that fuse, which is what powers the blower motor. You can check as well the brown/white wire at pin 3 of the motor unit which brings the voltage to the rear. If you have the voltage, then the question is whether or not the motor or the internal resistor block/thermal switch unit is the problem or one of the control switces. If you ground the dark green wire on pin 6 of the rear unit while the ignition is in the run position the motor should power on high. If it doesn't then the motor is bad. If it does then the either the front or rear switch is bad (assuming you have tried both in the high speed position). Basically the swithes control which circuit thru the resistor block the current flow thru (the front overrides the back, however) to reach ground, so you should get high speed blower even if the internal resistor block were the problem. So check that fuse and that the voltage is getting to the rear and then try the grounding to see if you can determine that everything else has to be ok, and then I would suspect the switch(s) as the final cause.
