Chrysler Repair: 93 eagle vision esi 3.3, eagle vision esi, pin sockets

Question
As stated I have a 93 eagle vision. I've been having some tranny issues as of
late. Got it serviced and the tranny still continued to slip out of gear and will
only run in 2nd and not come out of it. Brought it to an electrical problem
mechanic as recommended by my family mechanic and they both could not
find the computer port under the dash. Last time out of desperation we
pulled out the entire dash and radio/ac unit. We found a connector behind
the radio but the wires run up not down. Any ideas of where EXACTLY the
connector is? I cannot get the car fixed without knowing the codes the
tranny is giving off. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
Hi Andrea,
You are looking for a blue rectangular plug with 6 pin-sockets. It should either be under the dash just to the right of the steering column (hanging loosely) or look under the left end of the dash near the fuse box (above the brake pedal arm or behind an access door on the lower edge of the dash if there is one there). I don't have specifically the manual for the '93 but the first reference location is from the '94 manual and the second is from the '92 manual so I think those are the choices. I can tell you where the 5 or 6 wires are routed and so if the mechanic's reader is set up for the Chrysler OBD-1 data link plug it would be possible to tap into the other ends of the wires to make a reading. Let me know what codes are read out and we can check the transmission manual for what they mean.
