Chrysler Repair: 1994 Chrysler LeBaron A/C freezes up, chrysler lebaron, 1994 chrysler lebaron

Question
I have a mint 39K 94 LeBaron 4dr, 3.0 V6. The A/C is ice cold, all pressures excellent etc. However the compressor does not cycle. Living in deep south west Texas, the A/C is on 12 months a year. It freezes up the evaporator after about 15 minutes on the highway if I dont remember to turn off the a/c button every few minutes. How do I fix his problem?
Thanks
NSR

Answer
Hi Ned,
The '94 manual describes a "fin-sensing cycling clutch switch" that is located in the AC housing that is supposed to sense the temperature of the fins and turn off the compressor in order to prevent the freeze-up that you describe. I would be pleased to xerox and postal mail you 3 pages that describe how to test and if necessary replace the switch or correct its wiring. Just use the "thank and rate" tab where you can leave a message as to you postal mailing address. Thanks for the detailed description of your problem.
