Chrysler Repair: TCM, dodge caravan, checker auto

Question
Hi Kevin,  I've got a '97 Dodge Caravan and recently the "Check Enginge" light came on.  My wife had it scanned at Checker Auto and they told her the readings were an EGR Valve and the transmission control module.  Unfortunately they cleared the codes before anyone else could check it.  We've driven it for about 3 days and the lights hasn't come back on.  The transmission seems to shift fine but I do notice it shifts a little hard when slowing down into first gear.  Also, this winter during very cold spells, it sometimes would take a while before shifting into 1st gear.  Other than that, everything seems fine.  It's due for a transmission service but I was wondering if the TCM was a replaceable part by someone with average mechanical ability?  Thanks for your help.  Roger K.

Answer
U would need a chrysler scanner after the replacement of a TCM for a quick learn and programing of the stuff in it.
I doubt it would be a TCM ne way.  Is your fluid level good   check on the dio stick and see how to check it.  What was the code for the TCM?
