Chrysler Repair: Chrysler 300 stuck in park., chrysler 300, pawl


Question
Engine turns on fine. Automatic gear shift lever stuck in park. Tryed pink switch back right side of shift lever.
Tryed key entry. Ant Ideas ?

Hi Thomas,
The only reason for that I have experienced is when the torque on the parking pawl inside the transmission is particularly great, such as if you put the trans in park on a steep incline. If that is the case, then if you can recruit a husky by-stander or two to push on which ever end of the car is low so as to take the pressure off the pawl it will release. Even on level ground there might be something that is putting torque on the front wheels, so gently rocking the car back and forth might free it up.
I'll see if I can find anything else to suggest.
