Chrysler Repair: Replacing a/c evaporator for 97 T&C minivan, xerox copy, evaporator

I was wanting to find out where exactly the front evaporator was located and if it was necessary to remove the entire dashboard in order to replace it.

Hi Jennifer,
I checked the '98 manual and find that the evaporator is in the housing under the dash and that housing has to be removed to change the evaporator. In addition, to remove the housing the entire dashboard does have to be removed. The '95 manual shows the same procedure. So unfortunately it seems to be the case that it is a large undertaking.
If you contemplate doing it yourself I would be glad to xerox copy and mail you the pages from the manual if you would cover the copying cost (9 cents per side) and postage.
