Chrysler Repair: sebring heater and a/c problems, water hoses, temp gauge

Question
Recently the heater stopped blowing warm air out of the vents.  I thought it was the thermostat, but now I have tried the A/C and found that it isn't blowing cold air out.  The car hasn't overheated and does reach operating temp, so now I'm not sure about the thermostat.  Any ideas?
Thanks,
Darren

Answer
Hi Darren,
Is your AC compressor working when you ask for cooling? If not that would explain no cold air. And the temp gauge seems OK then feel the two hot water hoses that go thru the firewall from the engine to the heater core in the cabin. If both of them are warm about equally then you have hot water going to the core. If that is the case, then I would have to wonder if the blend air door which mixes various amounts of air from the two cores is not moving when you set it for heat and instead all the air is going thru the cooling core which is not working possibly because of too low refrigerant. So check those things out and let me know.
