Chrysler Repair: Cost of replacing engine control module (ecm), chrysler products, wrecking yard

Question
How much will it (Roughly)cost to fix the electronic control module.I've been driving my car with the ecm needing to be replaced,Can i mess up something else?

Answer
Hi Catrina,
In most of the Chrysler products the module is very accessible and only requires a few minutes to replace it. So the main cost is the module itself. You can check out the price from a dealer, an aftermarket parts store, and even consider getting one from a wrecking yard (but you have to be sure it is from the same year, model, engine/transmission vehicle). So the labor should be a minimal issue unless the shop charges a minimum time no matter how short is the job. If you find otherwise, let me know and maybe I can tell you how to replace it yourself if you will spell out the year and model of the car. It is mainly just the task of removing the multipin plug and plugging in the new one, and a couple of mounting screws.
By the way, do you have a firm code readout or behavior that is certain of the need for replacement?
