Chrysler Repair: tail lights and dashboard lights dont work:LeBaron, chrysler lebaron, roland roland

Question
I recently bought a 94 chrysler lebaron convertible and when i bought it the lights worked fine. After about a week, the tail lights and dash lights stopped working because of the fact the dealer ran a wire from the switch on the top that turns on the lights to the fuse box. So it blew the wires and i have no tail lights or dashboard lights but all other lights work fine. i know its not the lightbulb and ive tried all other options HELP!!

Answer
Hi Nicole,
I would go back to the dealer and make them remove the wire and find out what damage they did when they rewired your switch. I don't know where that wire was attached at each end but I suspect that it was done incorrectly because all the headlamp switch circuits are designed to ground or unground one of the relays mounted in the relay block to the left of the driver's leg on the side wall under the dash. So if he brought a 12v wire from a fuse to that switch he no doubt caused whatever fuse it was attached to blow. And until the added wire is removed it will continue to blow when you use the switch. This is an obvious mistake.
Why did you need the dealer to do anything to begin with? Let me know that, and maybe after the dealer pulls out the wire we can get things straightened out. Also, please tell me whether other lights that are located around the dash panel also don't work, and tell me all the exterior lights on the front and back of the car don't work. But the dealer's "fix" has to be removed if we are going to get anywhere with this one.
