Hello Roland.  Can you please tell me where exactly would I locate the thermostat? I suspect I know where it is and I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Hi John,
Your fears are confirmed. The manual says it is on the lower left side of the engine near the front, at the inlet to the waterpump. It is in a housing that brings the lower radiator hose and heater return hose. The removal procedure is:
remove negative side of remote jumper terminal (disconnects battery)
drain cooling system
remove accessory drive belt in prep to remove generator
raise vehicle
remove generator attachment bolts and set generator aside
remove hoses from housing
remove housing bolts
remove thermostat and housing

Install is the reverse. Tighten housing bolts to 105 inch-pounds.
I haven't worked on this engine, just passing along what the manual describes.
