Chrysler Repair: Disarming and Deactivating the Security Alarm: 93 C-body, remote keyless entry, warm smiles

Question
Hi Roland:
Thanks again for your Great & Prompt response to my question!!  My son has followed the steps you suggested but our dilemma is that we can't get the car started to have the "engine running" before pulling the 21 pin plug from the module!!  Do you have any further guidance!
Thank You and Warm Smiles,
Jack

-----Question-----
Dear Roland:
How can we disarm the security alarm on our 93 New Yorker?  It goes on at the most inconvenient times and locations and is of no value to us any more!  Thank You!!
Kind Regards,
Jack

Hi Jack,
I am assuming that your '93 is the C-body vehicle, not the LH body that started that year. In the '92 C-body, and I assume the same in the '93, the theft module was separate from the body computer so it could be removed from service. It was located above the glove box and thus required that you remove the screws around the door opening so that the box could be dropped down which reveals the module on the bracket that runs transverse above the box. It has a 21-pin "natural" color connector. Now the main precaution is to only pull the plug on the module when the ENGINE IS RUNNING. Otherwise it treats that plug pulling as if you are trying to steal the car and shuts it down even tighter than usual.
Begin by removing the lower right instrument panel silencer at the lower edge. Then remove the glove box. Then remove the three screws that hold the bracket in place to lower down the module. You may also find the remote keyless entry model in-board from the theft module. Start the engine then pull the plug.
If you have the LH body car, the module is part of the body computer and I have not seen a simple way to cut it out of the system.

Answer
Hi Jack,
Sorry to have misunderstood that the car was presently in lock down mode. If you have tried to use the key to lock and unlock both the driver and the passenger door, then that means the wires from those two disarming switches have broken. But now that you have the module in view, the wire on pin 4 of the plug (dark green/orange) is in fact the one from the door switches. All you have to do is probe through the insulation of that wire with a pin to reach the conductor, then attach a jumper to the pin and ground the other end of the jumper to any metal surface attached to the body where is it clean and shiny, and then remove the ground connection which simulates locking and unlocking a door. That should deactivate the armed/alarmed condition. Then see if the car will start. (There should be some sort of alarm light on the dash whose condition should change when you have successfully disarmed it, I think). There is also a ground wire on pin 11 of the module (black/light green) that could be probed and used as ground point. So see if that works for you. Then unplug the module with the engine running.
Thanks for the very kind evaluation.
