Chrysler Repair: 98 chrysler 3.3l misfire, crankshaft sensor, coil pack

Question
I have a 98 Chrysler mini-van with a 3.3L engine. The engine surges when accelerated under load and will not do it while throttling it in neutral. The code says camshaft or crankshaft sensor. I have replaced both with no luck. I have also replaced the pcm, map sensor, coil pack and checked all other sensors. The engine rarely back fires which tells me both fuel and spark are lost. I have changed the shutdown relays and still no luck. do you have any ideas?

Answer
Hi Andy,
Can you tell me specifically either the P0000 codes or the check engine light (MIL) codes that are current? Erase the old codes by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. Then drive it for a while to see what new codes are set so we know what the PCM sees it to be. The multi-misfire code (P0300) has so many possibilities that it isn't much help to know that one.
But any other code more specific may give us a clue. How is the idling and decelerating behavior? I have the trouble shooting manual for that engine so I can share its suggestions with you.
Have you done a compression test? How about the egr valve, is its stem moving freely?
