Chrysler Repair: Headlight bulb (low beam) replacement: T&C van, chrysler town and country, haynes manual

Question
I own a 1998 chrysler town and country lxi. I want to replace the low beam headlight bulb. Unlike the high beam headlight bulb, the low beam is difficult to access. What do I need to do to change this bulb?

Thank You

Answer
Hi Nigel,
The '98 shop manual does distinguish between the high and the low beam bulb changeout procedures. It appears to suggest that the entire headlamp module has to be released for better access to the low beam bulb holder, and this is what is shown also in the Haynes manual. The module is held in place on the radiator support panel by three nuts and also a screw on top of the crossmember. That should then give you access to the bulb: remove the wire connector from the bulb base, rotate retainer counterclockwise, and remove retainer, then remove the bulb. When installing the new bulb make sure you don't leave any finger prints on the glass. Then reverse the procedure.
I hope this is helpful to you.
