Chrysler Repair: 96 Caravan 3L V6 engine lifter noise, engine lifter, air hole

Question
My van has started making an engine noise that I would describe sounding very much like a rattling lifter except of course these engines are OHC so they don't have any.  Any ideas as to what it might be?  My guess is that something in the top end of the motor is oil-starved.

Answer
Hi Michael,
There are nonetheless auto lash adjusters on each rocker arm. You can check each one by removing the valve cover. Then insert a small wire through the air hole in the  adjuster so as to move the ball check down. While holding the ball down try gently moving the rocker up and down to check for free play. If there is no free play, replace the adjuster. Let me know what you find and I can give you instructions for doing that. But maybe just checking them will quiet the noisy one.
