Chrysler Repair: 96 Chrysler Concorde antitheft disarm, side kick panel, chrysler concord

Question
I have a 1996 Chrysler Concord. When I use the key to start the car the antitheft alarm goes off. How do I manually disarm it? Is it the same way as disarmming the doors?

Answer
Hi Robert,
If you are successfully entering the "armed" vehicle without setting off the alarm, e.g. you disarmed the system to get in, then I don't see why using the ignition key should cause the alarm to go off unless somehow you have rearmed the system after entering the car. Do you notice from the alarm light on the dash that the system is armed just before you start the car? If so, that will cause the alarm. You have to disarm the system or the ignition switch usage will cause an alarm. You could rearm the system if you used the remote to lock the doors for example. Try locking the doors just using the push button, which should not arm the system. Then when you go to start it it won't alarm. Have you successfully stopped the alarm using the key in the door (either front door)?  If not, then you will either have to repair the wire from the door switch to the body computer or do a manual disarm by grounding/ungrounding a specific wire at the body control module located on the passenger side kick panel.
So let me know what you observe. If neceessary I can describe how to dirarm the system at a plug on the body controller, which works once, and then you can only cancel the arming process by never using the power locks or the door key/remote key to secure the doors, only the push buttons.
