Chrysler Repair: 2000 T & C --- door lock system problem, xerox copy, chip set

Question
2000 Chrysler T & C LXi

The problem is weird.
1. if i use the key to open the passenger side door. Once the key is in, the lock keep turning on and off by itself. It is very difficult to open the door this case.it is no problem with the driver side door lock.

2. The car will immidiately lock the door once I turned on the engine. It supposed to turn on once the speed is over 15mph.

3. I have to use key unlock the liftgate (back door). The power lock doesn't work for it.

I am not sure what is the problem with it. Is there a chip set governing this function?

Thank you very much.
Ryan

Answer
Hi Ryan,
On problem 1, I suspect there is a problem with the lock motor for that door, or it could be a wire at the lock but in any case you will probably want to remove the trim panel and examine the lock wiring as a start.

On problem 2, there is a disable choice for the 15 mph lock up and you must have accidentally done that.

On problem 3, again I would suggest you start at the rear door lock motor.

The most useful and efficient way to help you would be for me to xerox copy and mail you the 4 pages from the '98 shop manual that I have which are probably applicable to your newer model. Then you can take a look, enable the 15 mph feature, check your rear lock and let me know what happened for further investigation if necessary.
