Chrysler Repair: 2001 CONCORDE BLOWER MOTOR, 2001 chrysler concorde, blower motor resistor

Question
HEY ROLAND, I HAVE A 2001 CHRYSLER CONCORDE AND THE BLOWER MOTOR JUST STOPPED WORKING. ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHERE TO START. IT'S THE WRONG TIME OF YEAR FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

Answer
Hi Al,
If it isn't working on any setting of the speed control then I would suspect either the fuse or the motor itself.
The fuse is in the junction block under the dash. It is 25 amp and may be at the right end of the middle row of fuses. Look at it carefully for a crack even it it hasn't blown. The motor itself is on the underside of the HVAC unit under the dash. To get to the motor you would find it easier to  remove the lower edge of the dash on the right side. It has four fasteners, all facing up: two screws on the front side (facing the passenger seat) and two sheet metal nuts on the backside (firewall). You will find a two wire connector on the motor that plugs into a fixture nearby in the housing called the blower motor resistor block. If you unplug that and jump 12v to the plug pins you can check that it is or is not working before going any further. If it isn't then write back and I'll give you the details on removing the blower motor. If it is, then the resistor block may be bad, but when that fails the fan will still run but only on high speed most owners report. But I would remove the block and inspect it to be sure if you don't get any action from the blower and the blower itself will run when jumped. So check those out, and then we can go from there.

PS My most recent manual is from '97 so I'm assuming things didn't change through to '01.
