Chrysler Repair: 1996 Stratus instrument cluster no bus message, gauge speedometer, fuel gauge

Question
When I start my 1996 Dodge Stratus, everything is fine for about 30 seconds and then the instrument panel goes completely out (everything - fuel gauge, speedometer, odometer, ect).  There is a message that says "no bus" in the odometer area.  I've noticed that if I turn the key just a little bit, the instrument panel comes back on but it only stays for around 30 seconds again.  Would you know what is wrong and how to fix it?

Answer
Hi Christl,
I don't know specifically why this is happening, but there are a series of measurements that can be made visually and with a voltmeter that can be done yourself if you have the interest in removing the cluster and doing the testing. The message is basically saying that the digital data that is needed to operate the gauges is either not being received over the data wires or that the cluster is not processing it properly. Any number of possibilities as to why are sorted out by the test procedures. They cover about 6 pages which I could send to you for use, at no cost. Just use the "rate the expert" tab to send me a postal mailing address and I will xerox copy them and mail them to you.
