Chrysler Repair: 1998 3.3 voyager water pump, coolant leaks, weep hole

Question
will, i have coolant leaking from the seal on my water pump and also from in behind the wheel on the pump. do you think its the o ring or the pump and what general instructions do i need to remove the pump. its a 3.3

Answer
There is a weep hole at the bottom of the shaft of the pump. When bushing starts to get worn it opens up the hole so coolant leaks out and know its time to replace the pump.Fairly simple on this vehicle.Remove the belt shield, loosen the 3 bolts one water pump pulley.Remove the belt by using a 15mm long wrench on the in the middle of the pulley on the belt tensioner and move it to release the tension.Take the w/p pulley off, remove the 5 bolts around the water pump housing.(oh yeah, drain the coolant first)Give the pump a tap with a hammer and it will come off.Clean the surface. The new pump will come with a new seal. You might want to use a gasket spray to hold the seal in place.Tighten the bolts in a star pattern. When you fill the radiator,do not fill it all the way or else it will spit it out when it burps.Wait until the vehicle is at operating temperature before you top off the the radiator.
