Chrysler Repair: Fuel smell in the morning only, 1995 chrysler lhs, chrysler lhs

Question
I drive a 1995 Chrysler LHS with the 3.5l engine.  I just had a used engine installed and I was told that the used engine only had 60,000 miles on it.  When I start the car in the morning, the interior of the car is filled with a strong fuel odor.  It only happens when the temperature is below 50 degrees or so.  Once I drive for about 10 minutes, it goes away and I do not smell it anymore all day.  I have even gotten to work and let it sit for the full 8 hours while at work and then start it up and I smell nothing.  But then again it is always over 50 degrees by then.  I looked under the hood in the morning to see if I could tell where the smell was coming from and I noticed it was wet around one of the fuel injectors.  Do i need to replace the entire injector or could it be something else?  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Art,
There could also be a leak in the vapor recovery system, so take a look at the underhood sticker that shows the vacuum lines and trace those that service that particular system. But a wet injector would be a good item to correct. Each injector has a couple of o-ring seals that need to replaced to seal up the leak. But chances are that you may need to dismantle the fuel rail which is a multi-step process, unless I misread the situation. But you would want to have the procedure in hand to do that because the fuel rail is fragile and if you crack it the replacement costs over $200. I can send you a few pages from the '94 manual that discuss the injector replacement for the 3.5L engine.
I need to xerox and postal mail them to you so get back to me with a mailing address via the "rate the expert" tab if you would like them.
